Huntly Castle from Loch Ness isn't far, its about 130miles, so this trip was short.
Once I get blogging this page is going to get full up fast.
I am planing on typing out at least one post out per day, when I'm on my adventures.
I would recommend subscribing to my Newsletter, that way when I'm out on my travels you can get a weekly summary of where I have been and what posts are relevant to that trip. Subscribe Here
Huntly Castle from Loch Ness isn't far, its about 130miles, so this trip was short.
So we didn't get the thunderstorm that was forecast, but it was still wet in the morning.
During the night that little critter paid me a few visits, from the glimpse I managed to get, it looked like a water vole, and considering where I was camped I'm not surprised, and it certainly wasn't a rat.
The ride was a little taxing today, as I started coming down with some sort of cold, I'm not surprised, the about of people I saw not covering their mouth and nose whilst coughing and sneezing at the last campsite was unbelievable.
Well today didn’t start well, trying to put the tent down in 30MPH gusts with sporadic showers, what a nightmare.
Late start to the day, as it was raining, and that Scottish Marmalade was amazing.
To day is a day to catch up with blog posts and mostly delete video's from the cameras as it seems that I have used up 1 TB of space on my MacBook.
Decamping at Skye was a nightmare on ones own, especially with the wind coming from the wrong direction, I didn't even get the tent rolled properly, and thankfully to my neighbour with the scooter, I did mange to get it packed away.
It might of only been 80 odd miles but I ache, traffic was heavy with road works and that meant filtering for about an hour. Total travel time 3 hours
Despite some muppet driving a Range Rover, and nearly taking me and an on-coming fellow biker out, and the sporadic showers the run down from John O Groats to Inverness was pretty good.
Rained all night followed by high winds and then a brief break in the rain, just enough to get the tent down.
What a sunny start to the day, I almost stayed in bed, but decided to get up and see if I could make it to the summit of Ben Nevis.
Due to heavy rain most of the night and in the morning, with the forecast of clearing around lunchtime, I decided to stay at the tent, until it cleared up a bit.
Ugh the rain won't stop, I know it's Scotland but for the love of Braaaap!!!
So I had an interesting last start to the day, it seems in my hast last night as I was cold and wet, not putting away shopping turns out to be an open invitation.
Today was a day for site seeking. After getting completely soaked yesterday and my motorcycle gear wasn’t completely dry I decided to brave a walkabout.
The reviews I read recently on the club site that this place wasn't great, people moaned about the facilities, and the sate of the place, lets be honest if you want the Ritz then book the Ritz, and their reviews wasn't what I found.
Day 21, and I am really starting to feel the strain, I want to go and do things but, my body is telling me otherwise.
It's funny the more you wish decamp and leave a campsite quickly the more people come up to chat about your motorcycle!!!
As a Plumber one would think that I'm used to getting wet!, well not this plumber, I'm that good I hardly get wet on the job, and that's not to say that I, myself am not wet ;-)
So I didn't sleep that well last night, that was my own fault as I didn't setup my camp bed and although I was on grass it was still hard and a bit cold. I left Hayfield campsite and set off towards Haltwhistle.
After an extremely late start I finally got on the road and made it to Hayfield Camping and Caravanning Club Site
So I've finally bit the bullet and booked my camping trip/tour of Scotland 2023.
The trip is huge, with out daily pottering about and site seeing it's a whopping 2000 miles over 28 days.
Yay I managed to get away, despite my best efforts the day before I couldn't wake up early enough, and on the Sunday 31st July I was up around 11am, booked the campsite and ferry and loaded the bike and went.
