Although I technically didn’t have far to ride, I decided stuff the rain and I’m following the coast road from Culzean Castle to Glasgow and eventually end up at Milarrochy Bay Camping and Caravan Club Site. I’m glad I did as I stumbled on to this stunning little “castle”!!!
From what I’ve seen of some of the “castles” they ain’t really a castle, what I mean is they look more like Manor House’s, but may have a turret or two and or battlements on a building with two floors, I’ve worked in stately homes that’s are bigger, and they don’t call them castles, so I’ve started taken the word Castle - in Scotland with a pinch of salt. That being said, every English man’s/woman’s home is his or her castle, so why not in Scotland, hmm does that English phrase translate this far north?? I have no idea!!! Never the less I’m having fun and Newark Castle was a welcome break from the 5minutes of sunshine then 5 mins rain, and rinse and repeat.
So after going through the edge of Glasgow I found a garage with a Starbucks, what’s the odds, after topping up with fuel I saw a young chap with a Kawasaki ER6, I asked if he was good as it looked like he was struggling with something, we’ll that’s what us bikers do, and we got chatting, turned out he was up from Cornwall and doing over 3000miles in 18 days, WoW I said followed by “you win!!“ Lol. I mean on a ER6 he isn’t camping but that doesn’t make his trip any less special, so if your reading this, ‘keep the black stuff down and the shiny side up’
So I made it to the camp site I’m going to write about this site separately as I had some stunning views, you can read about that here.
