I have an ongoing list of things I have to go camping, this list isn't that extensive, and I may do some reviews at some point.
Tents come in various shapes and sizes, but I suppose as someone who used to go camping on a push bike back in the 80's the smaller the tent the better, I mean the weight and how much space it would take up on a pushbike, would obviously be a major factor in choosing what tent to buy.
On a motorbike things are slightly different, weight isn't too much of an issue, as we have an engine and not peddle power, packed size is a slight factor, including where are you going to strap it on the motorbike, and trust me, you don't want a tent in your backpack.
Now I'm no spring chicken, so getting on ones hands and knees to get in and out of a tent isn't really my thing, my job has me do that daily, so why would I want to put myself through that on holiday???
I decided to go down the route of specific MotorCycle Tents. These style of tents are designed to store your motorcycle inside, the main reason why I would want one that could do that, is if away and I need to urgently work on the bike in the rain, I have shelter, another factor is that, if I breakdown in the middle of nowhere, at least I could wild camp and park the bike in the tent, from the outside, it'll look like hikers are camping and that a vulnerable motorbike is a little secure from would be thieves.
To read more about the tent I chose, follow this link to my blog posts about the tent.
What you really need to take with you.
I have gone into more detail about the gear I have for camping ranging from my bed, sleeping bag, lights etc, these can all be found under the Gear category on my blog page.
These days it isn't hard to keep yourself entertained when camping, providing of course that you have an internet connection.
It can be a little harder if you're camping on your own and it's raining so hard that you don't want to venture into town and get soaked through.
Having a pack of playing cards is a must, forget running down your phone battery, one can play Patience for hours.
On the other hand, if you're a techno geek like me, one can import and edit videos from the bike cams and get them ready for uploading to a new blog post that one has typed out ready for when we have a network connection, sad I know!
