The ride from Haltwhistle to Culzean Castle was a nasty ride. Yes it was wet, and when I say wet I mean a really good down pour, think of an Olympic swimming pool, now jump in with all your motorbike gear on XD.
So as at home they do the same nasty road repairs up here. I had to endure 2 sections of road over a mile in each section, where they had just thrown down grit, there was no wet tarmac for it to stick too and with it raining as well made it an absolutely horrid affair. I suppose what made it a bit more fun, was that I had filtered past 20 or so cars and then I'm the one not going faster than 20mph, so I was holding everyone up, then after that I spotted a Starbucks, and stopped for coffee, I swear half the cars that went past must have been cursing me.
I think I managed to get Myroute-app working, the thing doesn't like it if you do a track log as well before connecting it to the CarPlay device, I have to test this theory out again, but at least that's something considering the weather, although I did have a paused waypoint set for lunch in Castle Douglas, which it seemed to ignore.
Fortunately I decided to wear my Halvarssons Jacket and trousers and gloves, and it did keep me dry as it has Gortex and other stuff built in, the issue is trying to dry the gear out afterwards, although on the inside everything's dry, one can still feel the damp. Don't forget I'm in a tent, I have no central heating system, and although the toilet block has radiators, do I really trust my "fellow campers" enough to leave my gear on the radiators to dry out??? I think not.
When I arrived at Culzean Camping and Caravanning Club site, staff was friendly enough and I managed to upgrade to an electric tent pitch for the 2 nights, the next site I'm going to I won't bother as I know I can do two days on battery power, and I still have not had the guts to try and charge the power bank on the bike, I'll post up about that another time.
After setting up in the rain, I managed to use the hairdryer in the toilet block to dry the gloves so they wasn't damp inside and then I went and found a pub for a hot meal and get some essentials from a corner shop.
So the pub I went to had reviews that a fire would be burning, however that wasn't the case, and they didn't even have the heating on. So after having a Chicken Curry I decided to head straight back.
I am unsure as to what to do tomorrow, if it stay as wet as it was yesterday, and my gear isn't dried out enough to be comfortable, and I do have some videos to edit. we'll see what the morrow brings.
