After a bit of a late start, I decided to see as many Castles as I could.

The first one to visit was Huntly Castle, which made sense as it was a 5 minute walk, I did walk past it the night before, and was like, "well if that's it, not sure I'll bother!". But as an English Heritage member access was cheap and I went in. I'm glad I did, the castle is pretty cool, obviously a lot has been lost over the years but there was still lots to see and explore. Some of the floors was still in tact and you see almost, how things were, when it was being used. More information on Huntly Castle can be found here. After that it was back to the tent for a quick coffee and then off to another castle.

Tolquhon Castle, was my next visit. I wasn't going to visit this one, but as it was on my way to find Slains Castle (where Bram Stoker, apparently got the inspiration for Dracula after staying there) Anyway, I was blown away by this one. So I've seen some ruins, a lot of "So called castles" that are mainly stately homes or golf courses that claim to be a castle, and some really historic castles that played in a lot of roles from Robert Bruce ETC. Tolquhon Castle, although wasn't really a strategic castle in many ways, it still is a castle, built with an internal courtyard, the buildings are pretty much in tack and fairly well preserved. I must admit, I really did like this one a lot.

After that it was a hunt for Slains Castle, which I couldn't find, I did some research online before I left and what I found was that it had been fenced off in 2007 to be turned into holiday flats. Apart from that GPS coordinates had me entering a muddle track, and I really could not be arsed to ride down that, let alone walk it.

So off I trundled, MyRouteApp had me going back to base, but I was having none of that, although it was dry, it was still cold, and I decided to go into Aberdeen. On my way there I spotted a bike parked on the side of the dual carriageway, and as we all do, I stopped to see if the guy was ok, turned out he lost a side panel from his bike, due to the wind, on the other side of the carriage way, what he saw wasn't from his bike, so he continued his search, but thanked me for stopping.

So after reaching Aberdeen, I proceeded to the Girdle Ness lighthouse and the Torry Battery. By this time is was past 5pm and getting very nippy with that wind, and on a Sunday nothing was really open. So after a few pics I proceeded back to the tent at Huntly Camping and Caravanning Site, and Spicey Scottish sausage and chips from the Huntly Chippy.

And then it started raining all night as well ;-(

So as I only have one gallery per post, and I can't really section the images out, I will go through and edit each description so you know where they are from.
