I had a bit of a late start due to not sleeping well due to the cold and the wind.
So I opened up the cool bag grabbed some bacon for a few bacon butties before deciding what to do for the day. Whilst the bacon was frying I grabbed the shopping bag from past night and the loaf of bread, as I lifted it out crumbs fell on the floor, upon inspection part of the base of the loaf and bag was missing, I originally put this down two the fact that I did ram it into the top box, before getting dinner, and that ne be the cause. I opened the loaf grated 2 slices and had breakfast. Then whilst grabbing my washing up bowel, I noticed some mouse droppings, and I checked the bread again, the little bugger had eaten through the Bag for Life, the bread bag and ate some bread. So that was that, then all of a sudden a black thing poked under the tent door, upon investigation, what looks like a teenage duckling was being nosey. He wasn't that sure but did keep wondering up and seeing what's inside before backing away, this went on for around 5 minutes. A few pitches round the guy said the ducks had had his rubbish bag and it was spread everywhere.
So as it was getting on, a quick apple map search for castles revealed a few local ones and off I set. But before I went castle hunting I went to the foot of Ben Lomond, parking charges was a bit steep, and so was the hill, but I paid for an hour and had a wonder round, upon deciding hiking in bike gear was not for me, I set of looking for castles.
The 1st Castle was called Buchanan Castle, upon arrival, it turns out it isn't a castle more a stately home that has been turned into a golf course, so a prompt u-turn and a re-think was in order.
Being that I already new I was in the district of Stirling I looked up the location of Stirling Castle, 40 mins away, and it was already nearing 3:30pm, as it closes at 6pm, I made a prompt dash, of course sticking to the speed limits, even if the cars in front was 20mph under that limit. I made progress ;-)
I managed to get round the whole of Stirling castle's buildings, I particularly did not fancy walking most of the grounds, but still, it was a very interesting place. So the entrance fee for 1 adult is £19.50, which I thought was a bit steep, they offered member ship for a year to access other places for £59, so as I'm being told the benefits of joining, I was told, you can access any English Heritage site, I'm already a member of that I said, 'oh then you can get in here for free!!!' Bonus.
After leaving Stirling I retreated back to the campsite, but not before stopping off at The Oak Inn for dinner, then it was kit in the drying locker, and off to bed.
